Smoking Laws

Smoking Laws

Amendments to the Smoke-free Environment Act were made in December 2004 and included several transitional phases in the lead up to a total ban on smoking in indoor licensed venues by July 2nd 2007.

What this means

All indoor areas of hotels, clubs and nightclubs that are open to the general public must be completely non-smoking.

Where you can and can’t smoke at the Coogee Bay Hotel.

Beer Garden: The beer garden is the main area of the Hotel where patrons are permitted to smoke. Function area: All function rooms on the second level of the hotel have a balcony where patrons of the private function may smoke.

Outside: If a patron leaves an area of the Hotel to go outside and smoke, they must not take any food or drink with them. The patron has an obligation to ensure that the noise level whilst on the footpath is kept to a minimum and that cigarette butts are disposed of in the rubbish bin.

All other areas of the hotel are smoke-free.
