Coogee Surf Life Saving Club

Following the devastating Sydney storms in June, Coogee’s Surf Life Saving Club suffered severe damage to the ground level of the building, with waves crashing right through one wall and totalling the gym and events equipment housed inside.

Together with club representatives, the Coogee Bay Hotel rallied the local business community together and held a fundraising dinner that included a 3-course meal, drinks, guest speakers, comedian Sam K and wrapped up with a performance by the Wildcatz.

Coogee Bay Hotel leveraged great relationships with Food & Beverage suppliers to see that all produce, Wine & Beer was donated to the cause, plus covered staffing and entertainment costs for the night to ensure every dollar raised went straight into rebuilding the club. With this event, it was possible to raise over $36,000 for the Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

“We were blown away when Chris contacted us saying he wanted to organise a Fundraiser at CBH following the horrible storms and damage we received to the club. Such kindness is so rare, and the event turned out to be incredible. The atmosphere on the night was so uplifting, it felt like the community was coming together like a big family. CSLSC is absolutely thrilled with the local support we received, and it’s all thanks to Chris and the staff at CBH for working so quickly and tirelessly to pull the event together.”
