Since 1873, we’ve been a beloved gathering place for locals. But Coogee Bay Hotel’s community spirit extends far beyond our doors. We put our money, muscle and minds into helping our neighbourhood through partnerships with local sports clubs and community initiatives, and fundraising events for neighbouring charities. We’re local to the core, with a heart as big as those blue Coogee skies.

Below are just some of our local community partners:

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation is an independent Health Promotion charity established in 1986 to support sick children and their families. Their mission statement is to deliver extraordinary outcomes for children’s health and wellbeing so today’s kids can live their best lives and tomorrow’s kids will have access to infinite possibilities.

Coogee Bay Hotel is a longstanding, proud sponsor of Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and have raised over $2.7 million over the past decade; funding a number of new facilities, initiatives, fellowship programs, surgical theatres and more.

Coogee Surf Life Saving Club is a volunteer organisation, and was founded in May 1907. The club was formed to assist with people getting into difficulty and even drowning at Coogee Beach. The first squad went into serious training to ensure qualified lifesavers would be available on the beach in the spring of 1907.

To this day, Coogee Surf Life Saving Club surf lifesavers commit to serving the community and keeping the public safe.

Coogee Bay Hotel is proud to be a long running major sponsor of Coogee Surf Life Saving Club.

Searoo Sports Management is an elite sports consultant headed by local ambassadors Braith Anasta and Justin Caines. Searoo Sports proudly manages a diverse range of up and coming sports men and women as well as current sporting champions including Dimi Papadatos, Sam Burgess, Lachlan Ilias, Trevor Simsby and more.

Coogee Bay Hotel is thrilled to be a major sponsor for Searoo Sports and is proud to help local talent receive the very best sporting management.

Randwick District Offshore Rescue Boat is a volunteer surf life saving rescue maritime group crewed by a dedicated group of surf lifesavers and has been operational since 1969.

We’re proud to be a long time supporter of the service, contributing financially each year allowing for the purchase of much needed lifesaving equipment.

Coogee Lions Club was established in May 2005 to assist people in the local community. This assistance can be either provided in the form of physical help or monetary assistance and support.

Coogee Lions and Coogee Bay Hotel entered into a partnership in 2008 and during this period have raised from the local community in excess of $300K. This has been returned to the community to assist organisations and individuals in need.

When Mal Ward found out that his son, Johnno, was seriously ill with childhood liver disease, he made a decision: rather than sit around feeling sorry for himself, he would start fundraising for the very people that were trying to keep his boy and others alive.

Unfortunately, Johnno lost his battle in 2008, but that hasn’t stopped Mal from continuing to dedicate himself to helping sick children through his Forever Johnno charity, which organises a mid-year fundraiser and a Christmas present drive in December each year.

Coogee United is our local soccer club and with 18 teams including mens and womens teams, across all age groups, is one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs Soccer Football Association.

We are delighted to assist the club and be a major sponsor.

In 20 years, the Coogee Bay Rebels have grown from a fledgeling cricket club with one team to a major force in Sydney’s Moore Park and South East Cricket Association competition. The club now has 60 registered players who come from all over the city for the honour of playing for the mighty Rebels

We’re delighted to be a major sponsor; helping subsidise gear, registration fees and their club’s busy social events calendar.

Randwick City Saints are a local Sydney premiership winning AFL footy club playing in the Platinum (Seniors and Reserves) Men’s and Division 1 Women’s competition. As a small independent club they have a strong connection to the local community and a great social culture.

We’re delighted to be a sponsor and supporter of this great community club.
